Russian kale type leaves with flowering kale colors and colorful spring
broccoli heads. Hardy selections that have survived temperatures down to
-10º F. Plant from July (in North) to Sept. (in South).

West Fork Wild

These somewhat diverse winter hardy (to -10 F) biennial and perennial (mainly green) broccoli types represent the survivors, less than 1/1000th of the original breeding population. These survived the summer of 2002 in rocky mountains where the drought was so fierce that it killed pines and firs. Plant spring thru mid-summer for a plentiful harvest of spring broccoli (Mar.-April).

Broccoli
main season
Waltham 29
Medium maturity with round heads. A very popular variety.
Brussels Sprouts
Long Island Improved
The plants are 20 - 24 inches tall with a good set of sprouts that are good for freezing or fresh use.
An heirloom from the 1890s that was commonly grown before the introduction of hybrids.
Cabbage
Danish Ballhead
One of the best late, green cabbages. The medium-size plants make large,
6-7lb, ball-shaped heads that are very solid. One of the original storage
cabbages. When planted to head up in the fall, will often hold in the field
until spring (if winter is mild). (100 days)
Golden Acre YR
A fine, quick-maturing cabbage with resistance to fusarium or "yellows". The compact plants produce solid, 6 - 7", round heads. Good, mild, sweet flavor. (65 days)
Mammoth Red Rock
Large, flattened, round heads form late in the season; and in mild winter areas, they will often last in the garden until spring. Deep purplish-red interiors. Space these large plants at least 2' apart in rows 3½ - 4' apart.
Red Acre
The best early red cabbage, in our opinion. Vigorous medium-size plants
with good stress resistance. Deep purplish-red, medium size heads are hard,
round and weigh 4-5 lbs. (75 days)
Savoy Chieftan
The leaves of this cabbage have the savoyed or "crinkled" look which adds contrast to the typical smooth leaf types.
Chinese Cabbage
Nozaki Early
Bolt resistant and adaptable. The best open-pollinated variety for spring and summer sowing. 3 - 4 lb. barrel shaped heads. 60 days from seed!

Carrot
Here are some nice eating finger-food carrots for you to trial and give me some feedback on... (try juicing them! ...maybe mix in some appropriate grape ...wow!) ...
Atomic Red
Has a nice color contrast with orange carrots.
Cosmic Purple
Purple exterior with a lighter yellow interior. A relatively new carrot with a new look. Very Sweet roots measure 7 to 8 inches long.
Little Finger
Small finger length carrots with a rich orange color. Early and can be sown at weekly intervals throughout the season for a continuous harvest. The shorter length means they are also easier to harvest than full length carrots.
Nantes Scarlet
a nice strain of this sweet tender orange carrot. 70 days.
Cauliflower
Snowball Early
An early maturing cauliflower with 6 inch heads that generally weigh about 1.5 to 2 pounds.
Performs well under a wide range of growing conditions.
Celeriac
Celeriac
A great addition to soups as this root vegetable has a very rich flavor. Can be dug and stored for winter use similar to carrots.
Celery
Redventure
A different color in celery. The redness is more pronounced at the base of the plant and at the joints.
Tall Utah 52-70
Very popular type with long green stalks.
Coriander/Cilantro
Leisure
One of the best flavored commercial strains of slow bolting cilantro.
Cress
Upland Special

A substitute for water cress, also useful as a cooking green. Tends to be a
Perennial
and is useful in wildlife feeding schemes as well as the home garden.
The plants grow largest (and most tender) when fall sown for
winter-spring harvest. A stronger more Arugula like taste than the other
cress. Seed Origin: PSR selection
Curly Cress
Annual
Fast
growing zesty greens for salad or light cooking. Grows best from fall or
earlier spring plantings but can be planted anytime.
Cucumbers
Super Bush Slicers
Healthy, compact 1½-2' vines produce an impressive quantity of crisp, juicy
slicers all season long. Generally more productive than other compact plant
selections. For home gardeners; this is a composite of various PSR breeding
lines. (45-50 days) Seed Origin: PSR Breeding Program

Loads up midseason with large numbers of little finger length picklers.

anthracnose, target leaf spot, cucumber mosaic virus, angular leaf spot and
downey mildew. PVP (70 days)
Suyo Long
A long, spined, dark green oriental cucumber that was long touted as a
burpless type. Trellis the vigorous vines and the 14" x 1½" fruit will be
straight. (70 days)
Lemon
Little Yellow cukes about the size and shape of a lemon. Always crisp, sweet and mild.
Vigorous branching vines load up with large numbers. (65 days)
